Why WhatsApp previews go missing
WhatsApp fetches the page when the sender pastes the link, with a short timeout and a small download limit. Big images are the most common reason a preview shows text only. Keep og:image under about 600 KB (widely reported limits are around 300–600 KB) and use JPG or PNG.
- Use an absolute https:// image URL.
- Keep the page fast: the phone gives up after a few seconds.
- WhatsApp shows large images for 1.91:1 pictures and a square thumbnail for others.

Why is WhatsApp not showing my link preview image?
Most often the image is too heavy, the URL is relative or http://, or the page is slow. Compress the image and make sure og:image is an absolute https URL.
How do I refresh a WhatsApp preview?
WhatsApp caches previews on the device and on Meta’s side. Adding a query string (?v=2) to the link gives you a fresh preview.
