Check what LinkedIn will show when someone shares your page: title, domain and the 1.91:1 image. Works without signing in, unlike LinkedIn’s Post Inspector.

What LinkedIn reads

LinkedIn’s crawler (LinkedInBot) reads og:title, og:image and og:description, then falls back to the <title> and to the first image it can find. LinkedIn hides the description in most feed layouts, so the title has to do all the work: keep it under about 70 characters and put the point first.

  • Image: 1200×627 recommended, minimum 200×200. Smaller than about 400px wide shows as a thumbnail to the left of the title.
  • The image must be under 5 MB and publicly reachable (no hotlink protection that blocks LinkedInBot).
  • og:url is respected: shares of URLs with tracking parameters roll up to it.

Refreshing a stale preview

LinkedIn caches previews for about seven days. After you fix your tags, paste the URL into LinkedIn’s Post Inspector (linkedin.com/post-inspector) while signed in; inspecting it triggers a fresh scrape. Previews that were already posted don’t change.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my LinkedIn post have no image?

Usually the image is missing, too small, served from a URL that blocks bots, or the page returned an error to LinkedInBot (common with Cloudflare bot protection). The checker fetches your page the way a crawler does and shows what came back.

Does LinkedIn show og:description?

Rarely. In the current feed only the image, title and domain are shown for most link posts. Keep writing a good description anyway: messaging and some layouts still show it.

What is the LinkedIn Post Inspector?

LinkedIn’s own debugging tool. It needs a LinkedIn login and shows what LinkedIn has cached. Use this checker to fix your tags first, then use Post Inspector to refresh the cache.
